This year our board of director positions in districts 3, 6, and 7 are up for election. If you live in one of these districts and are interested in running for the board, you will need to stop by our offices at 484 S 200 W Portland, Indiana and ask for a petition packet.
Petition paperwork requires that you have a minimum of 15 members of Jay County REMC sign your petition paperwork. Signing the paperwork is an affirmation that the person is a member of the REMC as of the date of their signature. They do not need to live in the contested district to sign a candidate's petition, as all members are eligible to vote for candidates in each district.
Any signature determined to be of a non-member of the REMC as of the date signed will be declared invalid and will not count toward the required number of signatures. Signatures must be obtained between the dates of March 1, 2025, and April 7, 2025, prior to the election. All petitions must be turned in by 4:00pm on April 7, 2025. Final validation of petitions will be completed by Tuesday, April 8, 2025, by the REMC Elections Committee according to corporate bylaws. Copies of the current bylaws and policies are included in your petition packet.
