ENERGY ASSISTANCE
Here at Jay County REMC, we understand that unexpected hardships can happen, and we want our members to know that assistance may be available if you are struggling to pay your electric bill. Jay County REMC works closely with local agencies and community partners to help connect members with available resources.
Jay County REMC may not terminate residential electric service from December 1 through March 15 for any customer who is eligible for and has applied for assistance under the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), administered by the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority (IHCDA) under IC 4-4-33.
Jay County REMC may not terminate residential electric service on any day for which the National Weather Service has forecast, within the preceding 48 hours, a heat index of at least 95 degrees Fahrenheit for the customer’s service area, for any customer who is eligible for and has applied for LIHEAP assistance under IC 4-4-33 during the current calendar year.
Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) and Indiana 211
LIHEAP is a federally funded program administered by the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority (IHCDA) that helps income-eligible households with home energy costs. Assistance is distributed through local Community Action Agencies throughout Indiana.
